About the event
Trainings to better support those we care for:
Creating Safer Places - Systemic Changes to Better Support and Include Sexual and Gender Minorities - Many organizations who are open and supportive of LGBTQIA+ people still unintentionally participate in thoughtless, discriminatory, or even oppressive practices in the day-to-day operation of their work. Making changes to be a more mindful, inclusive, and empowering place to work and seek services will help your organization.
It's Not Just ABout Saying "No" - Proactive and Person-Centered Sexual Supports -
We can and should expect people to seek romantic relationships and express their sexuality. When they do, it is important to understand how to balance safety with empowerment. This training will discuss how to teach people to make informed decisions about their relationships and sexuality, and explore practical skills for supporting the sexuality of the individuals you support (from children to adults). You will build a foundation of proactive, preventative strategies to use with people you work with.
Primary Audience:
These trainings are designed for anyone supporting someone else (such as parents, medical and mental health professionals, care team members, etc.) who needs to support that person in a positive, person-centered process. It is especially helpful when you support people experiencing I/DD, neurodiversity, and/or living in a long-term care setting. These trainings are free to attend. CEUs are available on request.
