Join local Camano Island resident Joan Pang in a special look back at Japanese Interment. Joan will explore her experience as an internee in a Japanese internment camp in Amache, Colorado during WW2. Joan hopes to increase understanding about the internment and how it impacts us today by sharing with her neighbors her family’s experiences being Japanese in America.
Joan Pang was born in Los Angeles, California. and was interned with her family in Amache, Colorado during WW II. Her family then took residence in Illinois after being released, with Joan spending her youth as a Midwesterner. Joan graduated from the University of Iowa with Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Joan and her husband retired to Camano Island in 1998.
